About the Owner
Hey y'all! My name is Katie Lay and I am the owner/operator of Buckeye Belle Bakery. What started as a hobby and passion project has bloomed into a fantastic opportunity to share my love for baking with others. In the spirit of sharing, let me tell you a little about myself.
I am a teacher in Southwest Ohio, and have been teaching US History, Sociology, and Criminal Justice for 8 years. In addition to teaching, I am a tennis coach (Men's and Women's), coordinator for our districts 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, treasurer of the Miami Valley Tennis Coaches Association, and most importantly: wife and mom!
In May of 2024 I fulfilled a lifelong dream, and became a proud graduate of The University of Georgia, earning my Masters Degree in Learning Design and Development. Throughout my journey to achieve this goal, I worked tirelessly to sharpen my skills as a baker, leading me to set my next goal: Open my home bakery by May of 2025...and now, in May of 2025, here we are! Buckeye Belle Bakery.
When I am not at work, I am spending time with my wonderful husband, our son, and our families. I play tennis competitively, and enjoy spending time on the lake or at the beach whenever possible.
